The “Dog”

“I am a dog”

“What do you mean? That’s an odd description of yourself.”

“It’s just.. you know.. I am a dog.”

Remember being baffled with his reasons for not wanting to be in a relationship..  then I realized.. he meant, he ran around too much, played a lot basically he can’t stay committed to a relationship, which at the time was totally fine if that was what he really wanted. However, I really didn’t think he was and it was just something he was saying to avoid “us”

“Well, do you want to be in the friend zone or not?”

“What do you mean?”

He certainly did not want to be just friends and we ended up having a pretty long relationship.

Looking back now, I have to concur  ..He loved cuddles, scratches (like literally), hugs, FOOD, loved to sit on the couch and just sit there doing chilling. It was cute. He loved to be out and about, just being around people made his tail wag. But also, he was very territorial and always had his guard up. He wanted to be out but he wanted me to be his alone. He kept wanting to play fetch. He would go out then come back…  night after night.. day after day.. Just like a game of fetch. I was happy he was having fun but also I was getting tired. That’s when I realized that the only way to get him to stop was for me to quit throwing the ball.

He really was a “dog” after all.
