Short Stories by Quennette: The Sketch

This short story was written by Quennette Rae, a third grader. Her homework was to create a story out of her list of spelling words for the week.

It was a cold Wednesday night on February 18, on a new moon. The moon had never shined brighter so me and my best friend Kate didn’t know what to do. Then we realized the moon, it was bright enough to draw so we got our chalk, slept a little and we

started to sketch. We checked the index page on how to sketch. It was no use so we just got to work. Sometimes rats would go there, good thing we got rid of them. We used out hands

to blend the chalk.

When we got to June we needed more chalk and asked people to send us some. We saw that 20 people sent us boxes of chalk. We kept the white and yellow chalk. We gave each person $1 and 50 cents to thank them.

A few weeks later we were half way done but it looked kind of boring so we decided to take a minute to guess and tried to find a new idea then boom we desided that one half would be ormal and the other part would be decorated.

When it was September there were many people taking pictures. We saw that  everyone stoped laughing at each other so we named it the “Friendliness Moon.”

The END

  1. Wow!!! Amazing writing. I shouldn’t have been surprised… because of her mother’s wonderful writing!
